The sculpture “Bouquet” by Alexander Nikolayevich Burganov depicts a delicate female figure in a short dress on a round-shaped pedestal. There is a bouquet of flowers and stems instead of the upper body. It is a surreal combination of a slim female figure and a large, lush bouquet with stems growing right from the girl’s waist, which embodies the metaphors like “blossoming youth” and “blossoming girl”.
No matter how intricate the form may be, one can always find the simplest element that makes up the whole. Even the ancient Greeks referred to the process of transforming a beautiful human form into a statue as “architectonics, ” which can be understood as the art of building. The structure of this work clearly evokes the image of a Corinthian column.
