The collection of the Urazovo Local History Museum holds a painting ‘View from the Chalk Mountains’. It was painted by of Nikolay Ivanov, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a teacher of drawing at the Urazovo school.
Nikolay Ivanov is a native of the Kursk region. He was born on December 10, 1926. In 1943, at the age of 17, Ivanov went off to serve at the front. There he was a gunner in a self-propelled artillery regiment. For Battle Merit Nikolay Ivanov was awarded the Medal ‘For Courage’. In 1943, he was severely wounded in the leg and was demobilized.
