The folding iron pocket knife with an image of a fish on the handle was purchased by the writer Arkady Petrovich Gaidar together with his colleague, the children’s writer Ruvim Isaevich Fraerman, at the Bird Market in Moscow.
Arkady Gaidar and the writers Konstantin Georgievich Paustovsky and Ruvim Fraerman often went fishing in Solotcha. One day, Gaidar nailed a sign to the gate of the house that read, “We buy worms from the population.” From then on, this meant that a fishing trip was planned. By evening, children would bring them jars of worms, and early in the morning, the friends would set out to fish.
Arkady Petrovich would carry a heavy load, including a rubber inflatable boat. Behind him walked Konstantin Georgievich Paustovsky and Ruvim Isaevich Fraerman. The writers loved to gather in the garden of the artist Ivan Petrovich Pozhalostin, in a summer bathhouse. Instead of a changing room, there was a room where Arkady Gaidar lived at that time. The interior consisted of a cot, a table, chairs and rugs.
After fishing, Arkady Gaidar usually worked a lot.
