The light wooden bookcase contains works by different writers, who gave their books to their friend Sergey Sergeyev-Tsensky throughout the years. They are all signed with words of gratitude, love and appreciation.
Maxim Gorky was among those famous writers who expressed their wishes to Sergeyev-Tsensky. He gave him his book “The Life of Klim Samgin” with a dedicatory inscription: “To the beloved word-painter. M. Gorky, 15.08.1927. Sorrento.” Sergeyev-Tsensky shared his opinion on the book “The Life of Klim Samgin”, writing, “I believe this profound book to be Gorky’s best. I passed on my impressions from the book to him and received the following reply, ‘I am very excited and joyful after learning your opinion of ‘Samgin’. Your praise is perhaps too flattering. I would like to know — do you see any faults with this book? Please tell me if you do, I will be much obliged. The strict word-painter that you are, I trust your word.”
