The collection of the Urazovo Local History Museum contains a rushnik — an item of folk culture and creativity of the Slavs.
Rushnik had a common and ritual purpose. In ancient times, a rushnik, embroidered with appropriate patterns-symbols, was an integral part of many rituals. It always acted as a gift, amulet, veil, decoration, symbol of the holiday. All important events in the life of the Slavic peoples have never held without rushniks.
In all decorative art, there is no other such thing that would combine so many different symbols. Due to its shape, the rushnik symbolized the path, the path of life, therefore it was constantly used in all rituals associated with the rites of passage — birth, christening, wedding, farewell ceremony on a long journey or burial. No agricultural rituals were held without any rushnik.
