The exhibition presents a device for reproducing sound recorded on a gramophone disk. It consists of a case with a turntable and a spring mechanism to rotate the record, a sound box — a diaphragm — with a needle holder into which the needle is inserted. In addition, there is a tonearm, a movable connecting tube, and a horn — a tube designed for the directed transmission of sound. Small metal parts, such as tubes, knobs, and switches, have a silver mirror finish. The case is made of light wood in the form of a low rectangular box on a wide base with vertical bars in the form of small stylized columns.
One side of the case is plain, the second side has a decorative element in the middle in the form of a rectangular copper plate with a chased drawing — a pectoral image of two little boys with curly hair and short wings behind their shoulders. On the third side of the case closer to the center there is a playback mode switch in the form of a metal disk with a stamped round scale bearing graduations and the numbers 80, 85, 90, 95. In the center of the disk there is a knob in the form of a rotating pin with a rounded tip of yellow metal and a short arrow at the base. Below that on the disk is a small pin without an arrow. At the top on the right there is a hole decorated with an applied rounded plate, elongated at the edges, fastened to the case with two rivets. A double curved winding handle with a rounded wooden handle at the end is inserted into the hole. A curved, massive metal bracket, decorated on the sides with gold-colored painting on a dark background, is attached with three screws to the left edge of the fourth side; a thick ring is attached to the top of the bracket.
A needle holder conductor is inserted in the center
of the screen and attached to the bottom of the sound box. A needle is inserted
into the needle holder. In the center on the upper edge of the case there is a
metal rotating turntable with a protruding short spindle in the center; a dark
green felt lining is glued on top of the turntable. A small yellow metal
disk-shaped plate with stamped images and inscriptions is attached with two
rivets to a corner on the upper side of the case.
