The exhibition “Ten Centuries of the History of Yaroslavl” is located on the first floor of the former mansion of Yaroslavl merchant Vasily Yakovlevich Kuznetsov, covering all epochs in the history of the city since its foundation.
In the first hall, which is dedicated to Yaroslavl’s history from the 11th to the 15th centuries, the central feature is a model of the city from that period. The hall also displays archeological finds uncovered on the territory of the city.
The exhibits in the next hall immerse visitors in the period between the 16th and 17th centuries. There are tiles, weapons and equipment of warriors on display.
The third hall presents Yaroslavl from the 18th to the first half of the 19th century, highlighting the city’s development as the provincial capital, and the establishment of the first Russian theater.
The next hall reflects the
development of industry in the second half of the 19th — early 20th century.
Another hall highlights the “traumas and triumph of the 20th century”: the heroism
of Yaroslavl residents during World War I, the July catastrophe of 1918, and
the labor valor of Yaroslavl residents during the Great Patriotic War.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
