In the Urazovo Local History Museum, you can see a bust of Vladimir Kobanov, an honored doctor of the RSFSR, a surgeon who has passed a long and interesting life.
Vladimir Kobanov was born in 1892. After receiving medical education at the Kiev State Medical Institute, he began his career. In 1934, he was admitted to the Urazovo regional hospital, where he was appointed as the hospital administrator. Here he worked until June 24, 1941.
During the Great Patriotic War, Vladimir Kobanov worked as the head of the surgical department of a field mobile hospital, was the leading surgeon at the evacuation hospital. In 1941, together with the hospital, he was on the outskirts of Moscow, then near Smolensk, Yelnya, Mozhaysk, Volokolamsk and Tula. Together with other paramedics, Kobanov saved the lives of defenders of the Motherland on the operating table, many of whom were returning to duty. It was a heroic work that aroused great respect for the doctor.

On August 26, 1945, Vladimir Kobanov was demobilized from the Red Army, and already on September 7, an order from the Urazov District Health Department on his appointment as the head physician of the Urazovo District Hospital was issued. Here he continued to save lives, to carry out a variety of surgical operations. In this matter Kobanov was assisted by a team of medical employees who worked in difficult post-war conditions. There was not enough linen and medicine, mattresses and pillows were stuffed with straw, the premises were heated with the same straw or wood, which the medical employees themselves brought from the forest. The laboratory was only clinical, electricity was supplied only at certain hours. But the head physician Vladimir Kobanov succeed to make the hospital equipped with a full set of the latest surgical instruments, with the help of which the most complex surgical operations were performed.
For outstanding merits in the field of public health, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of June 14, 1949, Vladimir Kobanov was awarded the honorary title of Honored Doctor of the RSFSR.
