The exposition of the Urazovo Local History Museum includes a photograph of the Church of the Icon of Our Lady of the Sign.
At the end of the 19th century, there were four churches in the settlement of Urazovo. The largest and most ancient of them is the Church of the Holy Sign-painter (the Icon of Our Lady of the Sign). It consists of two floors, as well as five thrones, the main iconostasis of which is distinguished by its grandeur and massiveness.
The official date of the foundation of the temple is considered to be 1750. At this time, the foundation stone was consecrated at the future construction site of the temple, which was funded by the owner of these lands, statesman of the Russian Empire Alexander Golitsyn. By 1806, the construction was completed, and 73 years later, under the leadership of an engineer from the Voronezh construction department, a bell tower was added to it.
In Soviet times, the church was first closed to parishioners, and was opened only in 1943. Today the temple is an architectural monument and the spiritual center of the Urazovo land. In 2002, to restore the monument, a Board of Trustees was established, which included representatives of the authorities, prominent public figures and entrepreneurs. With the help of the Board of Trustees, we performed a large scope of work on the exterior and interior decoration. On August 29, 2015, the Divine Liturgy was held in the church, led by Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol. Нis Grace consecrated the restored throne in honor of the Holy Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon.
