In the collection of the Urazovo Local History Museum you can see a photograph of Vasily Glushchenko, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a forester of the Valuyki fur forestry.
Vasily Glushchenko was born in the village of Kaznacheevka, Valuyki district. He devoted his whole life to the forest industry. At the age of 17, Glushchenko entered a forestry college. After graduation, he was sent to the Khabarovsk Territory as a forestry technician. Then in 1940 Vasily Glushchenko was called up for military service. In 1945 he was demobilized as a forestry specialist.
In 1946, Vasily Glushchenko began his career in the Urazovo forestry as an assistant forester. The Nazi invaders severely disfigured the forests and members of the forestry set out to restore them. Already in 1951, the Valuyki forestry enterprise fulfilled the plan of forest planting ahead of schedule and achieved a high percentage of survival and safety of forest plantations.
In 1960, Vasily Glushchenko was appointed a forester of the Urazovo forestry enterprise. The forestry collective under his leadership has repeatedly won the All-Union Socialist Competition of the RSFSR and received certificates of honor and prizes. Six years later, noting the active work on the preservation and restoration of forests, Glushchenko was awarded the badge ‘For the conservation and enhancement of the forest resources of the RSFSR.’ He also became the winner of the socialist competition many times in 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1977. For long-term and unstinting service in the state forest protection of the USSR in 1977 Vasily Glushchenko was awarded the badge ‘XXX years of service in the state forest protection of the USSR’, and the next year — the medal ‘Veteran of Labor’.

Before going on a well-earned rest, forester Vasily Glushchenko headed and ensured the protection of forests from fires, carried out outreach activities for the protection of forests among local residents, prepared seeds and seedlings for planting, and also regularly checked the state of glades and monitored the state of the forest. His recollections have been preserved:
