Peter Georgievsky was a Hero of Socialist Labor, one-star general. He was born on the 3rd of July, 1902, in a peasant family in Zarobozerye village, in the Belozersk county of Novgorod province (currently - Belozersky district of Vologda oblast). From childhood he worked in the forest enterprises of Novgorod province. In 1919, he joined the Russian Communist Party of Bolsheviks. In 1919 Peter joined the ranks of the Red Army to fight on the Petrograd front. From 1922 to 1926 he served on the battleship ‘Marat’ in the Baltic Fleet. From 1937 he served in the People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the USSR. In various engineering positions he worked on the construction of the Moscow Canal and the KUibyshev Hydroelectric Complex. In September 1940, nine months before the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, on the left bank of the Volga near Kuibyshev, a monumental construction of a complex of aviation factories was started. GeOrgievsky supervised the construction as chief engineer. On December 10, 1941 IL-2 became the first stormtrooper to be released at the enterprise. This happened 35 days after the arrival of the first train of the evacuated Voronezh Aviation Plant. By the end of January 1942, the production of the aircraft had reached seven per day.
In January 1942 Peter GeOrgievsky was transferred to Chelyabinsk, where he worked as a deputy engineer-general of the Construction Department of Chelyabmetallurgstroy. His name is connected with the launching of metallurgical plants in Chelyabinsk. One of them has mastered the production of the best armour for tanks in the world. Due to the improved quality of the metal, it was not necessary to increase the thickness of the armour, which allowed not to increase the total weight of the tank and to make the fighting machine fast and maneuverable. These were the properties of the best tank of the Second World War, the T-34.
In 1949 Peter GeOrgievsky was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor for special services.
He was awarded two State Prizes in 1951 and 1977. Peter GeOrgievsky was awarded with three orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner, four orders of the Red Banner of Labour, the Order of the Red Star and the Order of the Badge of Honor.
