The Decembrists House Museum displays a table on the original-looking steady supporting structure that is attached to a diamond-shaped base. The hexagonal column stand has a wooden onlay embossed with a floral motif. The oval tabletop, as well as the entire dark-colored structure, is veneered with precious wood to embellish the item and make it more durable. The veneer may look simplified, but it fits the table perfectly.

Such tables could be used in small living rooms for tea ceremonies in a narrow family circle.

From 1800 to 1830, the interiors of imperial palaces, mansions of the aristocracy, and noble houses were characterized by the Russian Empire style, which speaks to the great influence of French art. Filipp Vigel wrote in his memoirs,

The Empire style prioritized the external elements and, above all, the surface as it was, be it a wall, a ceiling, a cabinet door, or the back of a chair or armchair. These surfaces were emphasized by a contrasting pattern (often an embossed one) with the motifs borrowed from Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan, and Roman art. Therefore, the Empire style favored carved animal paws at the ends of the legs of chairs and armchairs, armrest supports shaped like lyres, and supporting parts of tables in the form of herms and griffins.

In the mid-19th century, the so-called sofa rooms became very fashionable. In them, sofas were arranged with sofa tables placed in front of them on a carpet. Such tables had one wide supporting leg in the center and were surrounded by several chairs resembling a washtub in shape.
