The museum houses a shashka (a kind of sabre) presented to the Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General Tagir Taipovich Kusimov.
Tagir Kusimov was appointed commander of the 275th Cavalry Regiment of the 112th Bashkir Cavalry Division in January 1942. During the war, the regiment liberated 19 settlements and particularly distinguished itself when assault-crossing the Dnieper on September 27, 1943, creating a bridgehead up to 2.5 km, which ensured the crossing of other division units. Having minor losses of personnel, horses and equipment, Kusimov’s regiment eliminated 77 soldiers, two enemy officers in one day, captured 15 assault rifles, 7 machine guns and more than 50 rifles. For organizing the assault-crossing of the Dnieper River, Guard Lieutenant Colonel Tagir Taipovich Kusimov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
Tagir Taipovich Kusimov served in the Soviet army for 45 years, rose from an ordinary soldier to a general, held positions from a military school cadet to a deputy corps commander. On June 24, 1945, Tagir Kusimov took part in the historic Moscow Victory Parade on Red Square.
