Forefather Enos is depicted full-length and is turned to the central image. He is dressed in a green robe and a red himation. He is holding an open scroll with his prophecy in his hand. The margins, the halo and the background of the icon are decorated with a copper cover with stamping.
Enos was the pre-Flood patriarch, the son of Seth, the grandson of Adam and the father of Cainan. The righteous generation of Enos is opposed with the sinful generation of Cain described in the previous verses of the Book of Genesis. The narrative about Enos repeats the genealogy of people from Adam and thus resumes the line from the pre-Flood mankind interrupted with the Abel’s murder and continued with the birth of Seth, the father of Enos.
The icon was restored by the team of I.P. Yaroslavtsev in the Inter-Regional Special Scientific Restoration Workshop of the Rosrestavratsiya Association in the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR in 1978-1979.
