Orest Timashevsky painted the ceremonial portrait of Alexander Bezobrazov in 1852. He copied it from the portrait of the 1820s by another artist. The location of the original and the author’s name are unknown. The year he created this portrait Orest Timashevsky got a pension from the Imperial Academy of Arts which he used to go on a trip. In 1860 became an academician.

Orest Timashevsky succeeded in the task, depicting Bezobrazov as a noble and respected nobleman. 

Bezobrazov was considered an active and selfless person. Local history expert Konstantin Golovshchikov said that under his rule ‘Yaroslavl got nearly completely renovated’. At the orders of the governor, the banks of the Volga and the Kotorosl rivers were reinforced, the streets were paved and trees were planted. He ordered to improve the Volga embankment and a number of streets in the central part of the city. There were fewer beggars during his tenure, and the taverns were allowed to sell tea — with only alcohol served in the establishments earlier.
