The exhibition shows the reconstructed replica of the field dress kit of His Majesty’s Fliegel-Adjutant, staff captain of the Imperial Guard Hussar Regiment. This was the rank of Prince Igor Konstantinovich before the revolution. He was the youngest child in the family of Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich and the great grandson of Nicolas I of Russia. The title of the prince of the imperial blood was assigned to male descendants of the imperial family.

At the age of 19, Igor Konstantinovich was awarded the rank of the chamber page. Imperial pages accompanied the august persons at official events. A year later, another rank was awarded, that time it was the rank of the Cornet with the elite forces of the Imperial Guard Hussar Regiment.
After the outbreak of World War I, he joined the military campaign. The military uniform of that period is the one recreated at the museum: a woolen service shirt worn with a belt or a sash.

Such shirts were very widely used in the army for they could be worn as everyday garment and were easy to sew. The uniform kit also consisted of a cap, an undershirt, shoulder boards, dark-blue cavalry pants, and tall boots. Yet, the prince did not stay long at the front: he soon got very ill and never got back to the battlefield.
In 1916, Igor Konstantinovich was awarded the rank of the Emperor’s Fliegel-Adjutant and he was enrolled on the Emperor’s convoy. Its members guarded the monarch, accompanied him during horse rides, handled special assignments for the Emperor, and escorted foreign delegations.

Igor Konstantinovich did service at the Headquarters of the Commander-in-Chief where Russia’s supreme command control were quartered. When off-duty, he spent time in Petrograd or in his beloved estate of Ostashevo where he had spent his childhood. In Ostashevo, the prince founded a stud farm and was always very much into horses and even nominated some of his horses for races.
After the revolution, Igor Konstantinovich Romanov and his brothers, Konstantin and Ioann, along with other members of the imperial family were exiled from Petrograd to Vyatka and then further to the Urals.

On July 18, 1918, the price of the imperial blood was killed at the age of 24 in one of the unused mine shafts in Alapayevsk together with his brothers.
