These items were personal belongings and documents of Nikolay Dmitrievich Sebezhko, a participant in the Great Patriotic War. During the Battle of Kursk, he was the artillery commander of the 95th Guards Rifle Division of the 5th Guards Tank Army. With it, he took part in the Battle of Prokhorovka. The exhibits were handed over by veterans of the Great Patriotic War and personally by Nikolay Sebezhko.

The German “Death’s Head” division was tasked with capturing the high ground and breaking through to the road to Prokhorovka from the northwest. In the area of Hill 226.6, the Germans had more than 70 tanks and assault guns, several dozen armored personnel carriers and up to a regiment of infantrymen. At the beginning of the battle, the artillery of the 95th Guards Rifle Division bore the brunt of the German tank attack.

The commander, Colonel Nikolay Dmitrievich Sebezhko, recalled,

In addition to tanks, the positions of Soviet artillery batteries were attacked by German bombers. The combined actions of the artillery of the 95th Guards Division and other units managed to repel all the attacks of German tanks.

Despite the significant number of tanks, supported by infantry and air force, the “Death’s Head” division could not completely break through the defensive line of the 5th Guards Army and occupy new land. Thus, the plan to break through to Prokhorovka was disrupted. At the same time, the German division suffered serious losses.
