The intercession presented in the Deesis was regarded as an eternal prayer and the Most Holy Mother of God always stood the first on the right from Christ. The Virgin passes the prayer of people to the Saviour. Her intercession springs up here in kind of real communication with the suffering person praying to her.
The icon was restored by G.Z. Bykova and Y.S. Finogenova in the All-Union Research Institute for Restoration in 1976.
