The Urazovo Local History Museum

The Urazovo Local History Museum was opened in 1988. The exposition was placed in the building of an Orthodox church of 1898 — the Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist. In May 2000, the building was returned to the Belgorod diocese, and for four years the museum held ‘onsite’ exhibitions in schools, libraries and houses of culture in the Valuyki district.

Since 2005, the museum has been operating in an old building where the Urazovo women’s gymnasium was located in the middle of the 19th century. The renewed exposition tells about the flora and fauna of the Belgorod region, about ancient household items, as well as about outstanding personalities of the Valuyki district, among whom are pilots, artists, doctors and honored workers.
