The Novokuznetsk Museum of Local History opened in 1927. It was the first museum in the Kuznetsk land — and it still remains one of the largest in the region. The museum’s collection has more than 55 thousand exhibits, among which there are bronze jewellery created before the Common Era, household items of the Shor people, fragments of medieval weapons, and models of lost buildings of the 19th century — and much more.
Most of the rarities are on display at the museum’s permanent exhibition, and each year it presents more than 40 exhibition projects. In its almost centenary history, about 5 million people have visited the Novokuznetsk Museum of Local History.
