Arkady Petrovich Gaidar (Golikov) was a writer, military leader, and journalist. Over the years, the Literary and Memorial Museum named after Arkady Gaidar has gathered valuable exhibits that belonged not only to Arkady Petrovich but also to Pavel Bazhov, Arkady Strugatsky, and Alexei (Maxim) Gorky, donated by the writers’ relatives and close associates.
In terms of the quantity and significance of its collection, the museum
in Arzamas is the leading Gaidar museum not only in Russia but also abroad. The
museum is often referred to as the calling card of Arzamas. The institution
includes the Memorial Household Museum, the Literary Museum of Arkady Petrovich
Gaidar, and the Memorial Museum of Alexei Maximovich Gorky.
