Belozersky Regional Museum of Local History was created in 1918. In April of that year its first exhibition was housed the former wine warehouse, where a large collection of bronze items belonging to Prince Abomelik-Lazarev was presented.
The museum was closed several times and its collection and property were transferred to other museums. In 1993, it became an independent Belozersk History and Art Museum. Today there are several exhibitions: ‘Historical Belozersk’, ‘Russian izba (Russian log cabin)’, a permanent exhibition in the Beloye Ozero Museum, Sergey Orlov’s Memorial House-Museum. The museum’s collection is located in the buildings that are cultural heritage sites of federal importance.
