The Literary and Memorial Museum is located in the Professorsky Ugolok (Professors’ Corner) — a picturesque place in the western part of Alushta. 100 meters above the sea, on Orlinaya Mountain, there is a small house — a creative studio of the outstanding writer, Academician, and Doctor of Philological Sciences Sergey Nikolayevich Sergeyev-Tsensky.
On May 6, 1962, Sergeyev-Tsensky’s house in Alushta was transformed into a literary memorial museum. The writer’s widow donated the house with all its furnishings, unique library and archives to the city.
The writer lived in this house for over 50 years until he died on December 3, 1958. In this place, he wrote most of his works, including the epics “Russia’s Transfiguration” and “Sevastopol Labors”.
Sergey Nikolayevich Sergeyev-Tsensky is buried on the grounds of his estate. A monument, dedicated to him, has been erected on his grave.
The memorial park is an integral part of the estate. The park is adorned with pyramidal cypresses; here, in early spring, almond trees are in bloom, and trees that were grown by the writer start bearing fruit.
