The ‘Primeval Times’ exhibition is part of the permanent exhibition of the ‘Museum of Nature and Man’. It tells the story of the most ancient stages in the development of Yugra nature starting from the moment of birth and is divided into four parts: ‘The Birth of the Planet’, ‘The Disappeared Seas’, ‘Siberian Savannahs’ and ‘The Time of Ice’.
About 200 fossil exhibits showcased both in display cases and in open storage are arranged in chronological order: from ancient organisms to modern ones. Each exhibit is interesting in its own way and is of great scientific value.
A particularly unique exhibit is the vertebra of a woolly mammoth with a hole from a Stone Age man’s hunting tool. The vertebra was found at the Lugovskoye site during a scientific expedition by the museum.
