The Local History Museum of the Uvat Municipal District “Legends of the Gray Irtysh” is a large repository of historical, cultural and natural science collections. The exhibition is based on the collection of the local school museum.
Today, the collection of the district museum has more than 8,000 items. These are archaeological and paleontological finds, clocks and Russian samovars of the 13th — 19th centuries, linen towels, objects made of birch bark and bast, old printed editions of the 17th — 19th centuries, porcelain and faience tableware made in the late 19th — early 20th century on Russian factories, souvenirs and dishes of local production, rare icons and ritual artifacts, paintings by local artists and numismatic rarities. The museum also presents a collection of items of Alexander Ivanovich Tikhonov — the legend of Russian biathlon. The leaf of the ginkgo tree is listed in the Book of Records of the Tyumen Oblast as the oldest museum exhibit in the region.
A great contribution to the museum’s collection was made by the pupils of the Uvat, Tugalov, Demyansk, Pershinsk, Osinnikovsk, Ivanovsk, Krasnoyarsk, Alymsk and Turtas schools, and the residents of the district, who donated various items to the museum.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
