The museum’s exhibition is housed in a wing of the estate that belonged to the Stoletov family, a prominent merchant dynasty from the city of Vladimir. In the 19th century, three members of this family made invaluable contributions to the military and scientific history of Russia. Infantry General Nikolai Stoletov led the Bulgarian militia during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–1878, contributing to the liberation of Bulgaria from the Ottoman Empire. Dmitry Stoletov was a major general in the artillery, participating in the Serbo-Turkish and Russo-Turkish wars. Alexander Stoletov was a professor at Moscow University and conducted research on ferromagnetism and the photoelectric effect.
The exhibition immerses visitors in the life of a famous merchant family. The exhibits include items of interior décor from the city residence of the second half of the 19th century, devices from the university laboratory of Alexander Stoletov, awards and weaponry from the Russo-Turkish War period, and personal belongings of the Stoletov family.
The exhibition materials are of interest to both
general visitors and specialists from various fields — anyone who is interested
in history and the lives and works of prominent individuals who were true
patriots of their country.
Exhibits are marked with AR stickers for identification purposes.
